Wright’s BBC journey began as a clerk, and his broadcasting career took off in 1976 when he joined Radio 210 in Reading. Four years later, he joined BBC Radio 1, presenting weekend programs before launching “Steve Wright in the Afternoon” in 1981—a show that would define his career.
