Who Was Gary Nelson?
Gray Nelson, originally from Edmonton, Alberta, and the former president of Tyndale University, recently passed away, leaving his family and loved ones in mourning.
Carla, Dr. Nelson’s spouse, served as the Director of the Bachelor of Education program at Tyndale University. She held the position of Associate Professor of Education.
A member of the Tyndale University faculty, Dr. Nelson and Carla have four children, including Stacy, who resides in Edmonton with her husband and their four children.
Assuming the role of President and Vice Chancellor of Tyndale University on July 1, 2010, Dr. Nelson brought a decade of experience as the General Secretary of Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) to the position, concluding his term in June 2020.
His educational journey includes a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Arts degree, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. Throughout his career, Dr. Nelson delivered lectures in various countries, such as India, Bolivia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Scotland, Kenya, Ghana, and Rwanda.
He co-authored notable books, including “Future Faith Churches. Reconnecting with the Power of the Gospel for the 21st Century, published by Wood Lake Books in 1997.
